School plays and theater festivals

I started writing and staging school plays in English 2 years ago, with my class of (then) 5th graders.

Playing a role in English, with all that is involved, from learning the part to interacting with the other actors/students, to performing in front of an audience (of parents, colleagues and teachers) can be very beneficial for your English language skills and more.

Here are the two plays I've written and staged so far.

The Reindeer Save Xmas - a play in 4 acts and many antlers

Xmas is cancelled by the Bank of Evil because of the economical crisis and it is up to the reindeer, led by Rudolf, to save the day (and Xmas)!

Life according to a 6th grader - a play in 5 scenes, 2 meerkats, a talking dog and many other wonders

Steve is a writer with a bit of writer's block, who has to finish a guide about how to behave politely in society. His daughter, Lizzie, offers to help him write it, in exchange for a dog. The results are not what Steve expects, since his daughter has tons of imagination, and he also receives help from the rest of his family, like his wife, Lily, and evil incarnate his mother-in-law, Linda Niceness.

The survivor's guide to being a 9th grader

This year's play for the really fortunate students of 9 A, who will lend their talent to having it staged, will be posted below, scene by scene, as I finish writing it. Use the comment section available on this page if you want to already choose a part for yourself.

Brandon, soon to be a 9th grader, wants to start school in an oufit that his mom thinks will diminish his chances of having a good experience in high school. Worried, she takes him to some extra classes at a kind of scary school, where he can learn the survivor's guide to being a 9th grader.

We will have a final rehearsal Monday, during class, so it's very important you know exactly what part you want to play by then. Please eliminate your rivals negotiate your parts with your classmates and reach an understanding.

The 7th Graders and The Kingdom of VaVaDoom

This year's play for the really fortunate students of 7 B, is posted below. Use the comment section available on this page if you want to already choose a part for yourself. Please print the play and have one copy for two students at least, so we can rehearse this Monday, December 9th.

The Smith family, introduced in last year's play Life according to a 6th grader, has discovered that they have a hero among them, someone who can change the fate of the Kingdom of VaVaDoom. Unfortunately, things don't go according to plan, and Steve, Lily, Lizzie, her dog, Doug, and Linda, grandma and evil person, find themselves fighting a variety of creatures.

The 7th graders will perform the play on Thursday, 19th of December, at 18 o'clock, in the high school hall.

The 8th Graders and the (not so happy kind of difficult do we really need to study) adventure of Exams

In the latest and last part of the adventures of the Smith (can't believe I chose such a bland name) family, the two children, Lizzie, awesome teenager, and Doug, awesome former dog and ..everything else, fight the harsh reality of school exams. Their parents, Steve and Lily, and their grandparents, Linda, dark creature of evil, and her husband, actual Dark Evil Lord, support them through these difficult moments. Will Lizzie go to college? Will Doug become a high school student? Will students forget their lines and steal somebody else's? Come in the last week of school to find out!

Scenes will be added until play is completed. Have a copy printed for every 2/3 students so we can rehearse!
